Say It Anyway with Corey Proffitt-Boyd: The Life I Almost Missed.

A memoir by Corey Proffitt-Boyd about growing up poor in Marydell, Kentucky, learning to live openly as himself, and discovering that the chapters he once wished away carried him somewhere worth going.

Your life doesn't have to be perfect to be worth living. You just have to be here for it.

What if the life you were meant to live was waiting just beyond the moment you almost gave up?

A Story of Becoming.

The Life I Almost Missed is the deeply personal story of Corey Proffitt-Boyd, who grew up in a tiny rented house in Marydell, Kentucky, where money was scarce, love was abundant, and his dreams often seemed much bigger than the world he could see around him. Years later, when he left home for Lexington carrying nearly everything he owned in a black garbage bag, he had no way of knowing exactly where life would take him, but he knew there had to be something beyond the boundaries of the place where his story began.

At its heart, The Life I Almost Missed is about what happens when we stop waiting for life to become what we imagined and begin recognizing the value of the life that is already happening around us. It explores the people who believe in us before we know how to believe in ourselves, the complicated work of loving and forgiving without losing ourselves in the process, and the realization that beginning again does not mean everything that came before was wasted.

About Corey Proffitt-Boyd

Corey Proffitt-Boyd grew up in a tiny rented house in Marydell, Kentucky, where money was scarce but love was abundant. He left home for Lexington carrying nearly everything he owned in a black garbage bag, chasing a sense that there had to be something beyond the boundaries of the place where his story began.

Since then, Corey's path has taken him through entrepreneurship, sobriety, caregiving, and the kind of grief that reshapes how a person understands love. He now hosts the podcast Say It Anyway, where he continues the same honest, warm, and vulnerable conversations that fill the pages of The Life I Almost Missed.
